About us

My breeding program was born out of a great love story! While searching for a small, lively, intelligent, and affectionate dog, I also wanted an athletic companion that could remain calm at home. When I came across the Italian Greyhound (IG), it was love at first sight! Beyond my wildest dreams, Belle, my first IG, was the perfect dog with her incredible silhouette and exquisite temperament. From that moment on, I knew my mission would be to help preserve this amazing breed that captured my heart forever.

The Triskell is a symbol of Celtic origin representing harmony, balance, and symmetry. It perfectly reflected the ideology behind my intention to breed this noble breed.

The Triskell breeding program was born!

My kennel is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). Our dogs comply with the Canadian breed standard. Socialized from birth, our dogs from recognized American and Canadian bloodlines are raised in our home and live right among our pack! Our breeding dogs have performed in conformation, obedience, Rally-O, and agility!

I am a member of the CKC, the Italian Greyhound Club of Canada, and the Passion Canin obedience school. I have also been active in conformation since 2008.

Our litters are occasional, as quality is prioritized over quantity!

I look forward to meeting you!

My assistant

Let me introduce myself! Breeding and sighthounds have always been among my passions. I currently work in the equestrian world as an instructor and groom. Through my profession, I witness several equine births every year, so the highs and lows of the breeding world are no secret to me. Just like Hélène, when I finally decided to treat myself and adopt my first female IG, Luna, I quickly realized that this was my breed and that I would eventually become a breeder! Hélène has become my competition mentor and generously shares her breeding experience with me. I can’t thank her enough! So, don’t be surprised if you see me regularly accompanying Hélène at shows or if I’m the one responding when you contact Triskell Breeding!

Thank you for your trust, and I look forward to meeting you!

The Italian Greyhound

Originating in Egypt over 2,000 years ago, Italian Greyhounds (IGs) rose in popularity in Italy after being introduced by the Romans. They quickly became the preferred companions of royalty and a symbol of nobility across Europe.

Having changed very little over the millennia, the IG—likely the result of breeding the smallest of its larger sighthound cousins—retains all their sporting instincts. That said, its small size, gentle and affectionate temperament, and insatiable desire to be near its owner make it the quintessential lapdog.

Health

The IG is a small dog with very few health issues. However, its small size and slender silhouette make it delicate, so certain precautions must be taken—especially during its 'teenage' phase when it feels invincible!

Particular attention must be paid to its oral health.

An IG with an active lifestyle and a healthy diet will be your faithful companion for approximately 12 to 15 years!

Family dog

The IG can absolutely be an extraordinary family dog! Its playful temperament and endless love for human contact allow it to take its role as a family dog very seriously. But beware! Its delicate nature requires significant supervision around young children. Bone fractures can quickly occur during overly boisterous play or dangerous handling. Constant supervision with children is recommended.

An IG that has never been exposed to young children, however, might find young family life far too stressful given its sensitive nature. It is therefore crucial to socialize your companion from an early age.
